To prevent condensation from occurring in your container you will need good ventilation and your container will need to be dehumidified. We have gathered a few suggestions to combat condensation and moisture build up in your containers.
1. Moisture Traps
One of the easiest ways of dealing with condensation is moisture traps. Moisture traps contain internal crystals that reduces moisture and damp in confined spaces, perfect for containers that may remain closed for periods of time. However, moisture traps need to be replaced every 6-8 weeks.
2. Grafo-Therm Treatment
Grafo-Therm is a treatment that is sprayed onto a surface that provides indirect protection against corrosion by absorbing moisture. It is a non-toxic, fire proof spray which is safe to use.
3. Dehumidifier
Dehumidifiers reduce and maintain a level of humidity in the air. They extract the water from the air that passes through the unit into a bucket. This will need to be emptied regularly to prevent re-circulation of moisture.
4. Container Lining
Another effective way of preventing condensation is to line your container with 50mm of polystyrene and then finish it with melamine. Although lining your container is an effective way of reducing condensation, you may still need to get a dehumidifier in order to balance out the temperature in the container.
Please also consider what will be stored in the container as this may also have some effect.
All of our containers can be grafo-therm treated or ply lined on request if you have any questions or would like more information on preventing condensation contact one of our team today!
