As one of 23 local businesses sponsoring 40 scholarships, we’re committed to investing in young talent by supporting students through their final year of college.
The partnership is designed to develop “work-ready” engineers through on the job training. Open to second-year Level 3 engineering students, the programme combines technical training and industry experience, ensuring graduates are prepared to thrive in the engineering sector.
After interviewing four impressive candidates, we’re delighted to announce Anthony Manners as our scholarship winner. We’re excited to support his development over the next year as he embarks on further training to become a welding engineer. During this time, he’ll gain valuable industry insights, first-hand experience, and mentorship, including two weeks of work experience at our depot, with the aim to progress onto an apprenticeship upon completing the scholarship.
In recent years, we’ve proudly welcomed two apprentices from the same course and both have successfully secured full-time roles within our team. By investing in these future engineers, we are helping to shape the future of our industry with a highly skilled and committed workforce.
The candidate we have selected is a fantastic young man who I am sure will embrace his next year of learning. I am looking forward to welcoming him for some work experience later in the year at the depot and in HQ.
